WSCS, WWF and the Danube Sturgeon task Force (DSTF) jointly hosted a sturgeon conservation workshop during the EU Macroregional and Sea basin strategy days, taking place in Bruxelles on June 8th and 9th. The workshop focused on the role of sturgeons as umbrella species, their need for conservation and for joint approaches between range states in the EU macroregions to ensure strategies for protection and recovery are harmonized, data and experiences are shared in the different sea basins and macroregions. The workshop was embedded in the EU Strategy days for Macroregions with approx. 200 participants of different sectors. The workshop, comprising some introductory presentations and a panel discussion with inclusion of the auditorium had some 62 registered participants
