From 15 to 16.30 CET on the 9th of December 2025, the 4th WSCS Student subunit and Early Careers online meeting took place.
The topic of this meeting was Telemetry, due to its widespread use across countries to track sturgeon movements and understand species behaviours. It has been an international meeting, with the continuous attendance of 32 participants, mainly from Europe and the US, during all the presentations scheduled.
Shout out to all the presenters who shared cutting-edge and state-of-the-art methodologies and experiences in this field, providing useful best practices on how to export these methodologies to other species and water basins.
Below is the list of presenters,
Expert Talk by Dr Adam G. Fox, Ph.D. (Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia)
Katie Morgan, BSc (Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia)
Dr Camille Musseau, Ph.D. (Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries – IGB, Germany)
Gabriella Brill, MS (College of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences, Oregon State University)
Tamar Edisherashvili, MS (Ilia State University, Georgia)
At the end of the presentations, an interesting Q&A moment occurred, with an exciting exchange of insights and ideas about sturgeon telemetry.
Following the Telemetry-focused meeting, for the first time, the WSCS and NASPS subunit meet online, sharing contacts between participants to foster exchange of ideas and collaboration among the Institutions, Universities, and Research Centres in line with the goal of the parent Societies: WSCS and NASPS”
