E’ mancato Giacinto Giovannini, figura di grande umanità e rara sensibilità verso la natura, la cui vita è stata guidata da un autentico rispetto per gli equilibri del mondo naturale e da una visione lungimirante della conservazione.
Allevatore di trote per tradizione famigliare, Giacinto ha creduto con forza nella possibilità di salvare lo storione cobice, quando il suo destino sembrava ormai segnato. E’ stato grazie al suo impegno e alla sua determinazione che, alla fine degli anni Ottanta, si riuscì a ottenere la riproduzione in cattività di questa specie: un risultato fondamentale che ha consentito di effettuare numerosi progetti di conservazione e ripopolamento, che continuano ancor oggi nell’attuale progetto LIFE Restore, che rappresenta l’eredità concreta del suo lavoro e della sua fiducia nel futuro.
Se ne ricorda non solo la competenza e la determinazione, ma anche la gentilezza e quella profonda empatia che lo portava a considerare la tutela della biodiversità come una responsabilità morale, prima ancora che scientifica.
Il suo esempio resta vivo in chi continua a operare per la tutela degli ecosistemi e delle specie più fragili, con lo stesso spirito di dedizione e rispetto che ha contraddistinto la sua vita.
A lui va il nostro pensiero riconoscente.

Giacinto Giovannini has passed away, a figure of great humanity and rare sensitivity toward nature, whose life was guided by a genuine respect for the balance of the natural world and a far-sighted vision of conservation.
A trout farmer by family tradition, Giacinto strongly believed in the possibility of saving the Adriatic sturgeon, at a time when its fate seemed already sealed. It was thanks to his commitment and determination that, at the end of the 1980s, captive breeding of this species was achieved: a fundamental result that made it possible to carry out numerous conservation and restocking projects, which continue to this day in the current LIFE Restore project, representing the tangible legacy of his work and his faith in the future.
He is remembered not only for his expertise and determination, but also for his kindness and that deep empathy that led him to consider the protection of biodiversity as a moral responsibility, even before a scientific one.
His example lives on in those who continue to work for the protection of ecosystems and the most fragile species, with the same spirit of dedication and respect that distinguished his life.
